Meet the Team

Flora Tu

Co President

Flora is in 11th grade at Burnaby North Secondary School and the Co-President of LMMSA. In music, she has placed in provincial-level competitions (2nd in Provincial Excellence, 3rd in CMC-BC chamber, etc.), won dozens of local competitions (Kiwanis, CDMF, VAYA, etc.), and consistently scored the highest in her division when she annually attended the LCMS Music Festival. She also is a part of her school band and accompanies her school choir. Outside of music, she participates in debate where she placed 3rd at Stanford, 3rd at Georgetown, went to quarterfinals at Harvard, and won the LME Regionals where she also was top speaker. She also is a part of Whistler’s All-Mountain Development ski group and sailed at Hollyburn.

Elliana Sun

Co President

Elliana is a 10th grade student at Crofton House School. From winning first at the BC Provincials in 2025 and second at the Canada West Nationals in 2024, to placing Gold at the Steinway Piano Competition, she has also had the honour of performing a concerto with orchestra in Italy. Outside of music, Elliana is also an accomplished debator. She was on the Champion Team and the Top Speaker at the UBC Fall High School Tournament in 2024, and was a Semi-Finalist at Junior Debate Nationals in 2025 after advancing from regionals and provincials. She volunteers with the Helping Hearts Youth Foundation in the Operations Department and is a volunteer debate coach with the Lower Mainland Debate Society.

Haley Dokgo

Associate General Secretary

Emma is a ninth grade student at Crofton house school, who has performed concertos with the west coast symphony orchestra during collaborations at UBC’s Chan center and has entered finals for the CMC in 2022. She also held a charity concert event in partnership with backpack buddies where she raised over 10,000 dollars for children suffering from malnutrition. Outside of music, Emma is a passionate debater, public speaker, and writer, earning recognition in competitions like John Locke and Scholastic. She enjoys coding in her free time and has an app published!

Evelyn Tung

Director of Volunteering

Evelyn is a Grade 12 studying in the Byng Arts Mini School in Lord Byng Secondary. Originally a pianist, she is honing her craft as a vocalist, being apart of the award-winning Lord Byng Chamber Choir, which has just won the Grand Prize in the Golden Voices of Montserrat 2025 back in Spain. Evelyn is also heavily involved in music leadership, being a 2-time section leader and a 3-time executive of the choir council, the latter which she is stepping up to be the vice president. Outside of music, she is passionate about marketing, visual communication, and technology, being a graphic design staff member in many non-profits and volunteers in local STEAM academies.

Leo Ly

Associate Event Coordinator

Leo is an 11th grader at Fraser Heights Secondary School. He has completed his RCM examinations in piano and has participated in a multitude of competitions regionally as well as overseas. His love for performing stems past competitions as he is also a highly recognized member of his schools music department, winning a multitude of awards from the department as well as being a distinguished member of his schools Music Council. Leo was also one of 5 students delegates to speak on the SD36 Budget Hearing. Additionally, he also enjoys chess and Geoguessr.

Elim Yu

Director of Admin

Elim is a 11th-grade student at Johnston Heights Secondary in Surrey, BC. She has completed her RCM examinations for violin and won first prizes at Kiwanis Music Festivals and other local festivals, advancing to the BC provincials for Junior Strings, where she achieved runner-up. Elim attended the HeifetzPEG International Institute in 2021 and 2022 and has participated in similar workshops and masterclasses. She studies at Langley Community Music School and has been a member of the Surrey Youth Orchestra since 2018, winning the 2024 Concerto Competition alongside other scholarships throughout the years. In addition to music, Elim leads the nonprofit ArtLift, supporting young artists, and is active in public speaking and community outreach initiatives such as Nightshift.

Jamie Cai

Director of Music Pedagogy

Jamie Cai is a Grade 12 student currently attending the Mini Arts Program at Lord Byng Secondary School. He is a prizewinner at numerous competitions such as CMC and PABC, with highlights including a Carnegie Hall nomination from the Sea to Sky International Piano Music Festival and debut with Liszt’s First Piano Concerto with the West Coast Symphony Orchestra. Jamie has studied at prestigious summer programs such as Tanglewood and Interlochen, working with renowned artists such as Emmanuel Ax, Orli Shaham, and Olga Kern. Equally dedicated to piano pedagogy and music theory education, he has been teaching students since Grade 8. He was recently shortlisted for the John Locke Institute Essay Competition, plays clarinet in his school’s senior symphony orchestra and wind ensemble, and is president of the Byng Band Council.

Jeffrey Su

Vice-Director of Music Pedagogy

Jeffrey is a Grade 12 student at Sentinel Secondary with a deep commitment to music and community. Having studied piano for fourteen years, he has earned his ARCT diploma, and he currently serves as first chair trombone in the West Vancouver Youth Band. Beyond music, Jeffrey demonstrates leadership and service through his involvement in Key Club, volunteering at senior homes, food banks, and tutoring younger students. Outside of school and music, he enjoys playing volleyball, watching old movies, and cooking.

Dheven Atwal

Vice-Director of Music Pedagogy

Dheven is a grade 12 student of Alpha Secondary School in Burnaby. He is an active member of the Alpha band program and participates in many ensembles, including student led and independent groups. He has had the opportunity to perform on stage as a soloist, conductor, and as a member of many different bands. He enjoys playing diverse styles, including classical, jazz, funk, and even selections from video games and pop culture. Outside of music he participates in school clubs where he holds multiple executive roles, he plays tennis, and he works part time at a bakery.

Coco Wu

Director of Social Media

Coco is a Grade 12 student at Collingwood School and serves as the Director of Social Media for LMMSA, where she helps design and post graphics to strengthen the organization’s online presence. She previously studied percussion and hopes to return to the drums in the future. Outside of LMMSA, Coco is an accomplished debater, earning recognition at local and international tournaments, including UBC and Harvard. She is also passionate about the visual arts, with experience in illustration and photography, contributing to a city-funded exhibition where she collaborated in a professional creative environment.

Claire Chen

Director of Media Design

Claire is a graduating student at Collingwood School and an editor for LMMSA. She has won awards for competitions in fine arts going back to the 8th grade, and her passion is arts and design, something she does as an extracurricular and a hobby. Claire has volunteering experience with Collingwood School and charity organizations, as well as work experience with customer service and sales. Although she hasn’t been involved with instrumental music in some time, Claire demonstrates creativity working as a digital freelance artist!
